VonVie Turns One
One year in and we are reflecting on how it all started, where our background in fashion has played a significant role, and where we are headed.
It all started in Round Top, a tiny town of 80 people just a ways down the road from where Nerissa (our co-founder) grew up. Round Top boasts magical sunsets, a single stoplight, a few local businesses and more cattle than people; yet somehow it transforms twice a year into the very epicenter of the Antique world and a bastion of all things decorative. Not only are the chic women of Houston and Dallas sipping white wine in local watering holes but busy New Yorkers and cigarette smoking Parisians can also be found traipsing through the fields hunting for forgotten treasures.
Against this magical backdrop, anything seems possible - the very DNA of Round Top is a mix of great taste, grit, creativity and giving new life to items long ago created and forgotten. VonVie stays true to this heady provenance; our two Founders share a luxury fashion background and an innate sense of timeless style as well as an intuitive understanding of not only what will sell in a retail setting but what women actually want to wear each day. By scouring vintage stores for beautifully crafted mens’ clothing, the very core of our brand is classic style at its finest. We give these well made pieces the VonVie treatment, changing the proportions to make them flattering for women of all sizes.
In the months following that moment in Round Top when we decided to create this brand together things have seemingly fallen into place, preparing us for each step as we grow and illuminating the path in front of us. This effortlessness is in no small part thanks to our community - a broad collection of friends, family, industry professionals, and other inspiring women who have embraced our brand and become our Muses and collaborators along the way. From Nerissa's mother and neighbor sewing our first batch of shirts, to the long-time friends who bought shirts off our backs and out of our trunks in the early days, to the showroom owner who took a chance on an entirely new concept, the local production facility embracing our designs and bringing them to beautiful fruition, the media powerhouses who truly believe in the magic of our brand, and all of the boutique owners and buyers who have welcomed VonVie into their beloved stores - we are so grateful to each of you for making this journey not only possible but also making it fun. So many things in life are serious; fashion should be pure, unadulterated joy, not about trends or labels but an opportunity for true self-expression and whimsy.
As we peer ahead into the years to come, we are excited for new partnerships, opportunities, designs and the continued growth of our community. We know great things are in store for VonVie, when something resonates deeply with so many people, it isn’t an accident. It's a movement.
